Summer, is nearly approaching and what best colour can sum up the summer season? Of course we are talking of the white, classic colour.
Spring/Summer 2024 runaways have confirmed that this season is all about the whites/beiges and butter colours. I am personally a big fun of white as it can be very elegant as well as sporty & very chic.
However, it can be also daunting for some since unlike black can give the optical illusion of enlarging the figure. Rest assured! With these little tricks and tips you can look immaculate from day to night.
1. If you do not dare going for a full white outfit, mix it up with black. Monochrome outfits are very chic especially in summer. For example, a sharp white blazer or a cardigan, with black loose pants, paired with a crisp shirt will take you seamlessly from office to cocktail hour.
2. It’s all about the shapes of the garments. Also consider proportion and your body shape. Look at how the garment flows on your body. For example, white jeans and garments like dresses with stripes can make the figure look curvier. However, you can still wear light jeans, just opt for beige shades/off white. Also, look at the cut of the jeans. Cropped jeans can give the illusion of making you shorter while high waist gives the illusion of an elongated leg. Pair it with black pointy ballerina/slingbacks or sandals and you look both chic and taller.
3. I am a big fan white dresses but make sure, to try the fit first. If you are curvy, I would avoid too many patterns on dresses, also avoid loose dresses. On the other hand, tube dresses are a great alternative to show off the figure and curves. If on the other hand you have a slimmer figure, I would opt for shapes and loose garments. For example, balloon skirts, dresses to show off those skinny legs and play with patterns such as lace fabrics such as broderie anglaise.
4. Finally, something that suits all bodies is a timeless white long linen shirt dress. This is the perfect garment to wear from morning till evening. Paired it with accessories such as a statement bracelet/necklace and or statement earrings. Add a nice belt and simple beige sandals and bucket raffia bags for daytime to evening pouch and heeled sandals for nighttime.
To conclude, white is a perennial classic in the warm-weather months, and spring 2024 give the crisp tone its due. Has noted by Coco Chanel, white has it all. Its “beauty is absolute”. Hence white is one of the strongest fashion statements for spring/summer 2024.
